Perfect for: Heathcliff-esque coastal Walks, Sausages and Beachfront capers
Birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, poet Sir Alfred Tennyson and the famous Lincolnshire sausage, Lincolnshire is one of England’s great historic counties filled with cathedral cities (including Lincoln’s gorgeously gothic Norman cathederal) windmill winding landscapes and fabulous (sometimes blustery) north sea beaches. Anderby Creek, where Twentysix (a gorgeous wooden cabin) sits, is right on the edge of Lincolnshire’s extensive Coastal Grazing Marsh, and is perfect for romantic Heathcliff-esque coastal walks. Twentysix builds on the regeneration and sustainable development of the area and provides a haven for those who embrace the outdoors. Overview
Twentysix is an ‘Anderby Chalet’ – a modernist wooden cabin designed and built by Vic Hallam in 1959 on the North Sea Coast. Mr Vic, as he was affectionately known, was a pioneer in timber frame construction and his company built over 200 chalets in Anderby, Devon and Cornwall. He chose his locations well, as Twentysix is testament too. Positioned in a beautiful part of Lincolnshire, its private garden overlooks a lake and the sand dunes beyond.
A Modernist Makeover
The cabin’s timber frame building was completely refurbished under the guidance of an award winning architect. It combines modernity, quiet design and a comfortable seaside feel and is a standout example of excellent design and energy efficiency that will make it fit for the next 50 years.
Open-plan within, its stylish living space – complete with wood burning stove – can sleep up to five; but its is perfect for couples seeking a romantic and private coastal retreat.
The main bedroom has a king sized bed and the smaller bedroom is fitted out with bunk beds, the lower being double size. There is also a fully equipped kitchen.
Step Back in Time
Peaceful and idyllic, Anderby Creek takes you back in time to childhood holidays: no clubs or noisy nightlife, just mile-upon-mile of open beach and the smell of the salty sea air. Overlooking a lake, beyond which are the dunes of the Lincolnshire Coast, Anderby Creek’s wide and sandy beach is a short walk from the cabin, and its friendly atmosphere and relaxed pace makes it a fantastic spot for winding down and recharging your batteries.
About the area
Anderby Creek is situated on the Lincolnshire Coastal Grazing Marsh which has extensive grassland landscapes rich in wildlife, intersected by a distinctive pattern of water courses and footpaths. Over the last years five nature reserves have been established within walking distance from Anderby Creek to re-establish habitat for wildlife. Twentysix builds on the regeneration and sustainable development of the area and provides a haven for holiday makers who enjoy outdoor activities and nature.
