The Westleton Crown really is a wonderful gem of a retreat – a great winter getaway and a serene (and secluded) summer destination. Well, if it was good enough for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, it’s definitely good enough for us!

Its bewitching Old England setting, its charm and its luxe make the Tudor Farmhouse hotel in Gloucestershire impossible to resist. Romantic walks, excellent food and friendly staff combine for the perfect weekend in the country.

A sign by the door of The Punch Bowl advises that it is also the village post office – very Larkrise to Candleford; we’re beginning to feel like Pearl and Ruby Pratt – we can tell we’re going to like it here!

Standing on the original site of Mr Lord’s cricket ground, Dorset Square Hotel’s bold style, good food and sophisticated comfort might just bowl you over… We make note of the seamstress mannequin and wonder if we’ll dress it up later.

Entering the lobby, we’re both immediately captivated – a huge picture window looks out onto an infinity pool, seemingly flowing into the sea far below, and the beautiful golden sweep of Bedruthan beach.
